Transforming cancer care in Côte d'Ivoire
Discover how Impact Hub Abidjan united healthcare innovators to tackle cancer challenges through ecosystem collaboration and inclusive innovation.
Abstract
In 2021, Impact Hub Abidjan launched Innov’Keneya—an initiative to transform cancer care in Côte d’Ivoire by fostering collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem. Sponsored by Roche and engaging over 50 key stakeholders, including government agencies, hospitals, NGOs, and private-sector leaders, the programme addresses critical gaps in awareness, diagnosis, and treatment through co-creation and innovation.
By applying an ecosystem-building methodology, Innov’Keneya mobilised a diverse coalition to tackle systemic barriers such as low health literacy, insufficient medical infrastructure, and the fragmented nature of cancer care—challenges that disproportionately impact rural and underserved communities. The programme led to the development of digital health solutions, strengthened partnerships, and was recognised with the Africa CSR Health & Impact award for its measurable contributions to cancer care access and quality.
This case study provides a practical roadmap for how cross-sector collaboration and inclusive innovation can reimagine healthcare delivery in complex and resource-constrained environments.
