SoilBiom is pioneering a sustainable future in agriculture by developing tailor-made microbial fertilisers that enhance plant growth and preserve soil quality. Co-founded by Deniz, Osman, Atakan, and Umut, SoilBiom’s journey began when their paths crossed with Impact Hub Ankara through the Empowering Women in Agriculture (EWA) Programme, implemented by Impact Hub Istanbul. Winning a prize that included a pro-bono membership plan at Impact Hub Ankara, they started their co-working membership in 2023, utilising the Hub’s resources for several months to advance their work.

Their relationship with Impact Hub Ankara deepened when they participated in the Social Clinic programme, a mentoring initiative for social entrepreneurs. This programme provided invaluable guidance, helping them navigate the challenges of their innovative venture. Today, despite having established its own laboratory, SoilBiom continues to support Impact Hub Ankara with individual memberships, demonstrating its commitment to the collaborative spirit of the Hub.

One of SoilBiom’s notable successes is the Next-Generation Fertiliser for Tea Farming project. This project focuses on creating specialised soil for tea leaves in the Black Sea region by analysing plant and soil samples. However, the journey has not been without challenges. Convincing farmers to switch from traditional soil suppliers to SoilBiom’s innovative products has been a significant hurdle. Changing established habits in such a specialised field requires not only producing superior soil but also engaging and educating farmers about the benefits of their products.

Currently, SoilBiom is focused on developing its laboratory to increase production capacity and reach more farmers. They plan to commercialise their products by obtaining necessary permits for organic fertiliser, tea fertiliser, and tobacco fertiliser within the year. Additionally, they aim to expand their product range to include fertilisers for other agricultural products such as potatoes, olives, and wheat. By leveraging its extensive knowledge in this field, SoilBiom is dedicated to sharing its expertise with its audience, fostering a community of informed and sustainable agricultural practices.

SoilBiom’s journey is a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration in driving sustainable agricultural practices. Their partnership with Impact Hub Ankara has been instrumental in their growth, providing them with the support and resources needed to develop their groundbreaking solutions. As they continue to expand their impact, SoilBiom remains committed to transforming agriculture and promoting a healthier, more sustainable future for farming communities.
