Green at Heart: Supporting SMEs in the Green Transition
Policy recommendations for advancing sustainability
About the policy brief
The Green at Heart project is an EU-funded initiative designed to empower social economy SMEs to become key drivers of the green transition. It tackles the structural barriers that smaller enterprises often face such as limited resources, regulatory complexity, and the absence of standardised reporting tools.
This policy brief distills the project’s key insights and recommendations drawing on the perspectives of 62 SMEs and 75 stakeholders who took part in roundtables held in Austria, Spain, and the Netherlands. It highlights practical lessons and actionable policy ideas. The ultimate goal is to inspire policymakers to shape a more supportive business environment ensuring that smaller enterprises are not left behind in Europe’s green transition.
