MONTREAL, June 23 2018 - A major gathering is taking place in the heart of…
Impact Hub Montréal has been committed to being a driver for the achievements of the SDGs through multi-stakeholder convening. After two years of operations, we are sad to see Impact Hub Montreal leave the network. We have come to a strategic agreement to part ways as the local team will follow a more regional approach to broaden their reach throughout the Province of Quebec. Continuing their commitment to the achievement and progress of the SDGs, they will now do so under the name Accélérer 2030 pour le Québec. The entity will be primarily focused on SDG 17, building efficient partnerships between civil society organizations, governments, and the private sector to accelerate the achievement of the goals.
Since launching in 2005, the Impact Hub network has undergone significant growth, now reaching over 16,500 members in 100+ locations across the globe. With this growth has also come a stronger focus on programming and trans-local collaboration: tackling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through incubation, acceleration, and scaling efforts for social entrepreneurs and innovators from all sectors across North America.
Impact Hub Montreal was officially launched in June 2018, as part of the Impact Hub Network annual Global Gathering held in Montreal and Ottawa. Impact Hub Montreal focused ever since on SDG ecosystem building at the Quebec-level. The strategy will remain the same under Accélérer 2030 pour le Québec, yet less focus will be put on entrepreneurial and startups support programs given the extensive and valuable offerings that already exist in Quebec.
All current and future projects will be operated under Accélérer 2030, a consortium of individuals and organizations focused on achieving the SDGs and a centralized launchpad for SDG projects and partnerships in Quebec and Canada.
On behalf of the Impact Hub network, we thank Impact Hub Montreal for their collaboration over the years. We wish them all the very best going forward and look forward to seeing their progress in the near future, finding new ways to collaborate on SDGs, social impact, and entrepreneurship efforts.
